We have quite clearly been in the golden era of Tennis over the past decade, as we have seen some of the all-time greats and future hall of famers strut their stuff on the big screen during this era. What a time it has been to be a tennis fan and spectator but there has been many discussions over who has been the best player over the past decade and below we look at some of the candidates.
Novak Djokovic certainly has to be the one at the top of contention for this as he is starting to catch up with the brilliance of Nadal and Federer during the 2000’s. During this decade, the Serbian has won 17 of his 18 majors during this period to firmly put himself in contention for being the best player of the decade. He has some other impressive accolades too including the first ATP player to win all nine Master 1000’s, the first to win seven Australian Opens and was the number one in the world for five years on the trot.
Many have been gambling on the fact that due to Djokovic being younger than Nadal and Federer, he might go on to eclipse their achievements and other tennis punters have also been gambling on online casino markets when looking here. These particular sites are offering one of the best all round gamstop-free areas on the market and something certainly worth checking out.
Again, we cannot mention this list with the mention of Spaniard Rafa Nadal who came out of the blocks flying this decade having won three consecutive majors in a row and become only the second man, after Andre Agassi to complete a career Grand Slam. Nadal also continued his dominance in his favourite tournament Rolland Garros where he has now won thetournament a record 13 times which is remarkable; and we believe this dominance will continue.
And finally, and maybe surprising to say that we aren’t going to list Roger Federer on this list due to him coming to the end of his career in this decade, we cannot not mention Serena Williams. Williams is by far the most successful women’s tennis player of all time and that has been confirmed this decade as she won her 23rd Grand Slam title back in January 2017 at the Australian Open where she didn’t drop a set the whole tournament and then went on to beat his sister in the final. More remarkably, she actually admitted that she was pregnant during this tournament which further explains why she is one of the greatest ever.
